Amrut Single Malt Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky is a blend of several American oak barrels. Amrut is a brand of Indian single-malt whisky, manufactured by Amrut Distilleries. It is the first single-malt whisky to be made in India. Amrut or amrit is a Sanskrit word that can be translated as “nectar of the gods”, “nectar of life”, or “drink of the gods”. The company translates it as “Elixir of Life”.
The brand became famous after whisky connoisseur Jim Murray gave it a rating of 82 out of 100 in 2005 and 2010. In 2010 Murray named Amrut Fusion single malt whisky as the third best in the world. Amrut single malt whisky is sold in 11 variants. Amrut Single Malt Cask Strength Single Malt tasting notes;
Nose: Gristy smoked barley, kippers with salted butter, peppered bite.
Taste: The delivery is youthful and barely reaching puberty then suddenly an intensely malty ascendancy followed by a healthy dose of drier oaks.
Finish: A sublime finale for its sheer delicacy and elegance; the peat no more than oozes, there are cups galaore of sugarless medium roast Mysore and finally, as a bourbon trail is discovered, soft liquorice and molassed sugar – easily the highlight of the experience: one of the best finishes of the year.
