Established in 2005, Kilchoman (pronounced Kilhoman) is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. The distillers use whisky which has been matured in ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso Sherry butts, resulting in a well-balanced flavor profile, with highlights of vanilla biscuits, light fruit, and wafts of warm peat smoke. A top expression from Islay’s farm distillery. Whiskies are matured in a combination of both Bourbon and Sherry casks. Kilchoman Machir Bay is a well-balanced combination of rich tropical fruit, peat smoke, light vanilla, and intense sweetness.
Machir Bay, our signature peated single malt, is a vatting of Kilchoman matured in both bourbon and sherry casks. Named after Islay’s most spectacular beach, the high proportion of bourbon barrels creates a distinct balance of classic Islay character and fresh floral complexity. Citrus fruit, layered vanilla, and butterscotch. Sanaig is a vatting of both sherry and bourbon casks. The high proportion of Oloroso sherry influences adds a balance of dried fruits and spices to the classic Kilchoman citrus sweetness and peat smoke character. Rich and fruity with citrus, caramel, and soft peat.
