Connemara Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey is the only Irish Peated Single Malt Whiskey. Irish whiskey is whiskey made on the island of Ireland. Connemara single malt is produced by the Cooley distillery, founded in 1987 and located on the Cooley Peninsula in County Louth, Ireland.
Connemara is a blend of aged whiskies: a4 years, six, and eight. Peated whisky is given a smoky flavor by compounds released by the peat fires used to dry malted barley, the length and intensity of exposure to the peat smoke dictate the strength of this flavor, as do the characteristics of the peat itself.
Its complex peat flavors and smooth, sweet malt taste make it a truly unique Irish whiskey. Connemara is a highly decorated Irish whiskey receiving over 20 medals in major spirits competitions since 2012. An aroma of sweet barley, peaty smoke, kippers, and well-baked apple crumble. Tastes of lightly honey sweet, subdued clean rather than sooty smoke with peaty vegetal notes, sweet barley water, light spice, and vanilla oak.
