Old Monk 12 years is boozy, molasses, dark, deep, and rich. The brand Old Monk was launched in 1954 by Ved Rattan Mohan. It is said that after a visit to Europe he was smitten by the Benedictine monks and the liquors they produced. Furthermore, he went on to introduce a drink of distilled cane sugar, matured in oak vats for seven years and infused with spices. He called it Old Monk as a tribute to them it gained a massive following despite little to no advertising. Indeed, word of mouth and a loyal customer base has seen it maintain its title as one of the leading dark rums in the world.
